Stripes, Shoes, and Bags: Yellow Shorts

Happy Friday!

Any exciting plans for the weekend?
My weekend is going to be very busy. Next week, we are moving to a new apartment and we have a lot packing to do! Wish us luck.

Today's outfit post is about color. I don't wear bright colors very often; I usually gravitate to "safe" colors - grays, blues, and blacks. Black always looks stylish, gray can be worn with any other color, and blue is my favorite. However, summer is the season when I try to add more color to my wardrobe.
The safest way to style bright colors is to pair it with neutral colors (white, beige, black, gray, brown). Other way is to combine a vivid color with a print which has this vivid color on it. I followed the first option and wore yellow shorts with matching ballet flats, white-navy striped crop top, and navy shoulder bag (white and navy are both neutrals).
These ballet flats are from Zara's new collection and have nice small pointy toe. Furthermore, they are very very soft and comfy! I find it really hard to find comfortable ballet flats that I can wear for at least an hour without blisters, but these shoes pleasantly surprised me.
I was wearing: H&M crop top (sold out, similar here and here),
Zara shorts (on sale now),
Zara shoulder bag (old, similar here),
Burberry sunglasses, and Kate Spade New York watch.

Stripes, Shoes, and Bags: Shift Dress

Hello everyone!

Happy Hump Day!

Yesterday, I realized that July is almost over and I've posted only three blog posts. So, here I am fixing this situation with the new outfit post.
I've been a fan of shift dresses for a long time, it's my favorite dress style. Shift dresses are feminine but not too girly. They are easy to style - you could pair it with blazers/jackets/vests and with sandals/heels/sneakers/boots . Also, shift dresses flatter many body types.
I've bought this striped shift dress recently and it has promptly become my go-to dress. I have worn it with black high heel sandals for a night out, with slouchy cardigan and flat sandals for a day in the city, and with denim vest and white cutout booties (as you can see on these pictures) to run errands.
These cutout booties are perfect for summer because of diamond shaped perforation which gives so much needed ventilation during a hot day.
I was wearing: Zara dress (sold out, similar here and here),
J Brand denim vest (old, similar here or here),
ShoeMint booties,
Vince Camuto bucket bag,
Burberry sunglasses, and Kate Spade New York watch.

iPhone Diaries: My Weekend in Pictures

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Did you have a good start of the week?

Today I'm back with a new type of post: iPhone Diaries. I like taking pictures and always find something I must to capture. I have got this hobby after moving to the U.S.; I was so impressed by New York City, by its beauty and uniqueness. And by this day, I continue to find places, buildings, views in NYC I haven't seen before. I think I look like a tourist but who cares!? My husband got used to it and every time patiently waits while I am taking another picture of Brooklyn Bridge or Central Park. And when I don't want to carry my camera I just use my iPhone.
Last weekend we spent in Manhattan. On Saturday, we went to Little Italy, ate pasta, then walked to Union Square, watched Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, and after walked to World Financial Center to catch the last ferry to Jersey City.
Little Italy is a small neighborhood in lower Manhattan on Mulberry Street, once this district was known for its large population. Modern Little Italy is only three blocks on Mulberry Street with Italian restaurants and stores. I hadn't been there before and expected to see more Italy. But this place is very touristy, with gift shops and restaurants.

That day, I was wearing Zara striped dress, Zara gold sandals, Vince Camuto bucket bag, Burberry sunglasses, and kate spade New York watch.
On Sunday, we had brunch with a friend in Upper East Side, in a neighborhood where we used to live. It was nice to come back to the neighborhood where we began our American life. After the brunch we went to Central park, then to Rockefeller Center to see Jeff Koons's Split-Rocker (a spectacular 37 feet high planted form).
On Sunday I wore Tommy Hilfiger shirtdress, Zara sandals, Sophie Hulme bag, David Yurman sunglasses, and kate spade New York watch.
Hope you liked this iPhone tour around Manhattan.

Stripes, Shoes, and Bags: Black and White

Happy Wednesday!

I hope you are doing well!
It's been awhile since my last blog post. During this time I managed to go to Miami for a short vacation and catch a cold after that. I love Summer and hot weather but I hate air-conditioners (they don't like me either), every a/c-season I catch a cold.
After spending almost whole week indoors, I was so happy to leave my apartment last Saturday! And this is what I wore that day.
I love this maxi skirt. It's very comfortable and it's striped! Have you noticed a tendency? In clothes, comfort is everything for me. I like shorts, jeans, maxi skirts because they don't restrain my moves; I like flats because I can walk miles without hurting my feet; and I like crossbody bags so I have both hands free.
This bucket bag is the latest addition of my handbag collection. Actually, I was looking for two bags: a small black crossbody and a bucket bag. Then I found this one, which combined all these characteristics; so, this bag saved me money.
I was wearing: H&M t-shirt,
J Crew skirt (and it's on sale now!),
Vince Camuto bag (available in four colors),
 Zara sandals (old, similar here),
Burberry aviator sunglasses,
kate spade new York watch,
Forever 21 necklace (similar here), and Baublebar bracelet (old, similar here).

Stripes, Shoes, and Bags: Shades of Blue

Happy Wednesday everyone!

How have you been? How is your Summer? Is it hot and sunny in your town?

First day of Summer was my birthday and I spent it in Newport, RI. I love ocean, lighthouses, seafood and Newport has it all so I couldn't have found a better place to celebrate my birthday!
In today's post, I will share an outfit I wore that day and I'm going to write another post about Newport and our trip.
We were lucky, weather that day was perfect: sunny and not too hot. We spent all day outside: walking, sightseeing, eating, boating, then walking again, and eating. It was a long day in a seaside city hence my comfy nautical themed outfit.
These Vince slip-on sneakers are definitely my best purchase of the season! I can walk miles when I wear them. They are very comfortable but yet stylish.
I was wearing: Gap khakis,
Hollister t-shirt (old, similar here),
American Eagle denim jacket,
Vince sneakers (similar here),
Proenza Schouler bag (similar here or here),
kate spade New York watch,
Burberry sunglasses
and Baublebar necklace (old, similar here).

Stripes, Shoes, and Bags: Clover Dot Romper

Hello everyone!

How has your week been so far?
We are experiencing hot wave here, in New York area. It was above 90F today. If I'm not mistaken it was the first really hot day of this year.
Today, I'm sharing with you a very simple outfit that I wore last Sunday. It was my first experience with rompers and I really enjoyed wearing it.
I've seen rompers and jumpsuits everywhere: in magazines, stores, on fashion blogs. I even bought one from Mango two months ago but could not make myself to wear it. And then I found this romper and fell in love. Now, I need more.
This romper is very comfortable and lightweight, perfect for summer. It is easy to style and to wear. You can dress it down by adding flat sandals, snickers or dress it up by adding a blazer and heels. Also, it's very practical for windy Jersey City: looks like a mini dress but you don't risk to show too much.
 LOFT romper,
Zara sandals,
Zara messenger bag (also like this one from Zara)
Valentino sunglasses (old),
kate spade New York watch.

Stripes, Shoes, and Bags: Stripes are Back

Happy Monday everyone!

I hope you had fantastic weekend and wish you a great week!

I wore this outfit last Saturday. When I was selecting an outfit that day, I realized that hadn't worn stripes for a while. I just had to fix it. I put on my favorite striped t-shirt from Gap, light-wash jeans, and, because it was chilly, added white blazer. This outfit is effortless and simple but, definitely, not boring because of the stripes.
I walked a lot that day, hence my slip-on snickers. I adore these shoes; they are so comfortable and yet stylish.
Gap t-shirt (old, similar here and here),
Zara blazer (less expensive option),
American Eagle Outfitters jeans (old, similar here),
Vince slip-on snickers (similar here),
Burberry sunglasses (old, similar here),
kate spade New York watch
and Forever 21 necklace (sold out, similar here).

Atlantic City, NJ: Casino Night

Happy Wednesday!

Hope you all are having a good week!

Today, I'm back with new travel post.
Last weekend, my husband and I went to Atlantic City to celebrate his birthday. We arrived to Atlantic City late Friday night (it's two-hour drive from Jersey City), had dinner with friends, spent night in casinos, and left the city after brunch on Saturday. It was really short trip and I didn't have time for taking pictures. However, I was able to take few photos from a hotel and on our way to and from the brunch.
We stayed in Bally's and our room was on the 45th floor. We had such a spectacular view! I'd love to wake up with view like this every morning. (Honestly, Atlantic City looks nicer from 45th floor.)
The most popular Atlantic City attraction (after casinos, of course) is the Atlantic City Boardwalk. If you watch Boardwalk Empire show, you might recognize it. The boardwalk was built in 1870 and once had length of 7 miles but was destroyed by hurricane in 1944. Today the boardwalk is 4 miles long.
Beach is an another popular Atlantic City attraction where people relax after long nights of gambling.
 That day I was wearing:
Zara linen t-shirt (old, similar here),
Zara denim shirt (old, similar here),
Zara shorts (old, similar here),
Zara sandals (sold out, like these gold sandals),
and Sophie Hulme handbag.
